Giving Back

Margie is concentrating her volunteer time in Northern Michigan where she lives on a rural 10 acres with her husband and animals.

Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Housing Trust of Benzie, a community land trust (CLT) that offers a creative way to own a home at a more attainable price and to build equity for the future. Soon we will have built and sold eight homes, and we are just getting started.

Margie believes you cannot care for a community without caring for its land and waters. She volunteers on the Environmental Committee of Crystal Lake Township, is a champion for the Benzie Conservation District, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. Protecting Northern Michigan’s most cherished natural resources is, in her view, essential to our health, well-being, and shared quality of life.
